Accommodation

Kurrajong Waratah provides a number of models of accommodation support. These include accommodation for children, adolescents and adults.

Each person with an intellectual disability is assessed regarding their functioning and living skills, this enables Kurrajong Waratah to assess which accommodation model is appropriate for the individual and would best meet their needs.

Kurrajong Waratah Accommodation Support Service is funded through NSW State Government Department of DADHC. Through these funding agreements we are required to adhere to the NSW Disability Service Act 1993 and the associated NSW Disability Standards as well as other legislation requirements.

In 2005 we voluntarily participated in the DADHC integrated monitoring system which used the continuous improvement matrix. Through this process Kurrajong Waratah scored the highest level possible. As a result of this outcome Kurrajong Waratah Accommodation Support Service was not required to submit an Action Plan to DADHC. Kurrajong Waratah is developing our own internal quality monitoring (IQM) system to enable us to have continuous improvement occur.

Kurrajong Waratah is very aware of ageing concerns of people with an intellectual disability and the issues associated with their ageing carers. This is becoming more prevalent as aging issues are increasing for our service users.

We currently have and Ageing Concerns working party who are monitoring the concerns and looking for opportunities to address these issues.

Kurrajong Waratah prides itself in the partnerships it has fostered and developed with other agencies and government departments, in working together in a collaborative approach to best suit people with an intellectual disability on an individual needs basis where possible.
