Skills Options activities
The focus of Skills Options Day Service is to provide valued, practical
activities where service users can develop and maintain skills.
Using the service brochure and other communication aids, staff support
service users to select areas of interest to formulate individual
programmes.
They can include:

Volunteer Work - Service users participate in volunteer activities
provided from external and internal sources. Volunteer support
programmes aim to provide service users with self confidence and
supports the building of relationships between people with and without
a disability. Businesses in the local community can provide
volunteer placements for service users.

Contracts - Skills Options contracts can include inserting, folding and
labelling and a variety of other activities from Kurrajong Waratah's
own services and many businesses, groups, service clubs etc. Service
users are encouraged to particpate in contracts and all proceeds from
paid contracts are used to purchase materials and equipment for the
Skills Options service.

Creativity - Art and craft workshops are run with our Skills Options
service users to encourage creativity. The art and craft produced
includes design, cards, soaps and silk painting. Why not visit our
showroom at 38 Fitzhardinge Street to see our delightful Skills Options
products available for purchase. We are open from 9.00am - 3.00pm
Monday to Friday. Throughout the year Skills Options service users are
involved in a number of art exhibitions at a variety of venues, such as
Bright Art Gallert and the Wagga Wagga Art Gallery.

Music and Dance - Skills Options offer music and dance workshops. This
can include experience with instruments, song writing and creative
movement.

Drama - Sessions are run to encourage creative expression through use
of movement and voice. Skills Options seek funding to assist in
producing drama productions. Service users are encouraged to
participate in drama productions and/or set design, production
management and script writing.

Social and Living - Skills Options encourage service users
participation in community and social activities. Service users also
engage in activities such as shopping, swimming, gym, library,
hairdressers, horse and cart riding, TAFE and/or Community Colleges
courses are sometimes available . Skills Options aim to increase each
service users independence by providing support with cooking, cleaning,
personal presentation, computer use, gardening and ongoing everyday
activities.
