WAGGA WAGGA CHRISTMAS SPECTACULAR 2005

The Wagga Wagga Christmas Spectacular was held at the Wagga Wagga Music Bowl on Wednesday 14th December 2005.

It was a wonderful night of family entertainment, with the Australian Army Band Kapook led by Major Peter Grant entertaining the crowd.

This year's feature performers were etypejazz vocalist Katrina Ryan, from Adelaide, and local artist Brent Dolahenty, who is currently studying in Perth.

Several talented local artists also performed. Including Phoebe Pinnock, who recently appeared in GASP, and Matthew Davidson, Joel Harrison and Matthew Olsen, who appeared in the successful "The Boys are Back in Town" show at the Garden Court.

Santa made a surprise entrance via a flying fox that delighted the audience. That one will be hard to top at next years event.

All proceeds from the evening benefited Kurrajong Waratah.

Kurrajong Waratah and the Wagga Wagga Christmas Spectacular Committee would like to thank major sponsors Country Energy, The Rules Club and The Wagga RSL Club along with Prime TV, 2WG/STAR FM and the Wagga Wagga City Council.

A special thank you to our other major sponsors including the Chambers Whyte Design and Print, South Wagga Lions Club and McDonalds.

2005 INAUGURAL SANTA SPRINT

Wagga's main street came alive when Santa's in wheelbarrows were pushed by Santa's on foot in support of Kurrajong Waratah's Children's Accommodation Service recently.

Forty four Santa's in team's of four, representing PRD Nationwide, Fitzpatrick's Real Estate, RAAF, Daily Advertiser, Boyce Accountants, Kooringal High School and the Cheesecake Shop demonstrated their strength and fitness to race in the prestigious Inagurual Wagga Business Networx Santa Sprint.

Based on the Scottish model, the Santa Sprint encouraged local businesses, schools and community groups to seek sponsorship and participate in a fast pace race along Baylis Street.

The race was won by Boyce Accountants, the best dressed team the Cheesecake Shop and the highest fundraiser PRD Nationwide who alone raised over $3,000.

The overall winner though was Kurrajong Waratah ans its Children's Accommodation Service with over $6,000 raised for special projects urgently needed by this important children's service.

Children's Accommodation Servicce provides group home accommodation for 60 school aged children on a permanent and respite care basis.

Staff will now prioritise their needs to determine how the support of the Wagga Business Networx and the team sponsors will be used.

Kurrajong Waratah are extremely appreciative of the hard working and successful Business Networx committee and entrants and know that with such a fantastic effort they will go on to bigger and better things next year and that the Wagga Business Networx Santa Sprint will be around for many years to come.
