Individual SupportHaving a family is tough enough, when a child in the family has special needs, it's even tougher still. But you needn't be an island; even the best and bravest need support sometimes. Kurrajong Early Intervention Services (KEIS) can help in a variety of ways. Getting started with KEIS: If your child is referred to KEIS by a paediatrician, a family support worker will be one of the first points of contact. They'll tell you all about early intervention, what to expect, and when your child will be assessed by the whole team. From the first contact onwards, your family support worker will be there to help guide you through the process. Most importantly, we will listen to your concerns, hopes and expectations. These are important to us, and will form part of your Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP). Getting connected to local services: Our family support workers can assist parents to find out what local services are available to them. Services that can assist families include respite care, carer payments/centrelink services or recreational services, to name a few. Please contact us to get you started. We are working on a new, larger service directory, so check this link again soon! Someone to talk to: Sometimes life seems a little out of control, and it can be easier to clear your mind when there is someone to talk to. Our family support workers are there to listen and help you make informed decisions about what to do next. Any family member of any child in our service can call to make an appointment at their local KEIS centre, or if that is difficult we can visit you in your home. |
