Service DeliveryService Delivery Options At the annual Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) meeting in January each year, families and the team work out the type and frequency of service that families and their children will receive. Families are offered a choice of services that best suit the needs of the child and family. Listed below are the services that are offered: KEIS aims to enable and empower parents/carers to be their child's primary therapist and educator and require families to attend therapy and educative services with their child. Early Learning Group Sessions. Goals for Group are: - To provide a purposeful play and learning environment in which parents/carers become the facilitator for their child's learning during group and in the home environment. - To focus on strategies for skill development as identified in the child's Individual Education Plan (IEP) and Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP). - To give practical demonstrations of these strategies that may be used at group, home and preschool and day care. Small group sessions in blocks (four to five weeks). These groups will focus on specific areas of need eg. communication/preacademic movement skills. Individual Sessions. These sessions are designed to work on the child's specific skills and needs. The skills learnt in these sessions can then be followed up at home or in the groups with the Speech Pathologist/Occupational Therapist/Physiotherapist or Educator. Consultation with Preschools/Long Day Care Centres. KEIS consults with Preschools/Long Day Care Centres providing specialised input from KEIS programs into the services the child attends. It allows the program to be coordinated and carried over into all aspects of the child's life. Parent Training. Parent training is considered an important part of our program because one of our main aims is to skill up the parents. Parent training opportunities include Triple P Positive Parenting and Hanen language based programs. Home Visits. Where appropriate, a home visit may be necessary to follow up a specific skill with a family eg. if a child has feeding difficulties, toilet training, sleep and mealtime management. (Usually home visits are most appropriate for children under the age of two). Families make a commitment to attend the selected program sessions are conducted over successive weeks. |
