Dad's Group

The Dad's group at KEIS is supported by My Time, a federally funded service.

My Time groups support parents and carers of young children with a disability or chronic medical condition.

The aim of the Wagga My Time Men's group is to provide a:

- Support network for Dad's

- to share and further understand their role as a Dad

- to focus on issues faced by fathers of children with additional needs.

The group will meet every 3 weeks for 2 hours during school term.

The model of the group has a 3 week rotating structure.

Week 1 - 'catch up': The catch up session provides a chance for the Dads to share issues that are affecting their family and opportunity to express their associated feelings. The catch up session provides a chance for the group to touch base and share with each other how they traveling.

Week 2 - social event: The Social events are intended to be non threatening and positive social outing that promotes strong social networks in fun non alcoholic environment for example laser skirmish, pool, mini golf etc.

Week 3 - guest speaker: The group decides on Topics of interest to men and or areas of concern that they have highlighted for example, medication, drugs, depression.
