Kurrajong Recyclers processes white paper into bales to be sent back for recycling.
The paper collected includes office paper collections and security shredded material. The two materials, shredded and unshredded are compacted into 1 tonne bales for transport to recycling plants in Melbourne or Sydney.
The bales are sent to Visy Recycling where they are broken open and placed in a pulping system where the material breaks down into the individual wood fibres. The slurry is passed over a porous belt to dry and press the fibres together.
The finished product can be converted into a range of uses from facial tissues to white paper for box making - all from recycled fibre.
Alternative markets for white paper include supplying high quality material for manufacturing new office copy paper and supplying the market for pet litter.
